Overview

This is a circular 5 mile walk from the RSPB visitor centre at Sandwell Valley. The route follows paths around the reserve and along the river Tame. It crosses to Swan Pool nature reserve and circulates this area before returning to the RSPB reserve. Tracks, paths, woodland, meadows. No stiles. Bring a picnic or snack for a Midway stop for short break.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS. Bus: 10.15 am to catch number 16 bus (towards Hampstead) about 10.30 am. Meet at bus stop MS8 at the back of Carrs Lane Church on Moor Street Queensway, (nearest postcode) B4 7SX. Alight at Tanhouse Avenue from which it is a short walk to the visitor centre. Car: 11.00 am at the RSPB visitor centre, Tanhouse Avenue, Birmingham B43 5AG . Parking on the access road before crossing the painted railway bridge is free. If parking at the visitor centre parking is £3 unless you are a member of RSPB. There are toilets and light refreshments at the visitor centre.
