Please carshare where possible. A varied 10 M walk taking in ponds, country fields, pretty villages including Selborne and East Worldham and woodland paths walking partway along The Writers Way and Hangers Way. This is an interesting and fairly demanding walk with some inclines and descents, and two flights of steps and five stiles. We’ll start at the Shortheath Common carpark (please familiarise yourself with the what3words location, the entrance to the carpark is along a lane that has a green Parking sign (second left after the Shortheath Common sign).
Check location of start. Stout boots, gaiters, poles recommended as there is likely to be some mud and small areas of boggy ground. Bring enough food and drink for your needs. We’ll stop for lunch in Selborne, those bringing own packed lunch will eat in meadow or churchyard. Toilets, drinks and light refreshments available at the Gilbert White museum cafe. Dogs welcome and will need to be on lead in places due to free roaming cattle in fields. We’ve allowed six hours as this is what it took on the recce.
