Starting at the Silchester Pavilion CP the walk heads NE towards Mortimer where we will stop for a break. Return, which is a little further, will be via Tan House bridge and Calleva Roman town. We will probably pass Silchester church and take the route across the centre rather than around the walls to limit the distance to @6mls.
The walk is relatively level, crosses largely open countryside but briefly enters Mortimer. Some long views. Expect mud but nothing too serious on recce.
There are three option for a refreshment break in Mortimer. The leader plans to allow time for those walkers that wish to buy refreshments in Baobab, a local coffee shop. Option 2 is to buy a takeaway drink from one of two local supermarkets. Option 3 is to bring your own as usual. Seating on playing fields/common land for those not using Baobab but traffic noise an issue.
No need to contact the walk leader to book a place. Just turn up.
