This walk starts in the pretty village of Singleton and includes a steep climb up Levin Down (taken at an even pace), then enters the edge of Singleton Forest. A meander through the edge of the forest takes the route back down and over the A286. The climb on the other side of the road up towards the Marlows is more gradual before it changes direction to go downwards past the site of a charcoal burner, complete with stacks of timber and a metal kiln. Next, heading off along a narrow country road, the route turns towards West Dean. Before reaching it, the ramble continues along the most recently completed section of Centurion Way, following the old train track to a reimagined Singleton train station - complete with platforms, station house and replicas of old station signage - offering a glimpse into its Victorian past. A short retrace of the train track, brings the final section of the hike down a short descent back to the start of the walk.
