If I've timed it right, a walk through Stanmer woods to see the colourful autumn leaf fall.
From Upper Lodges we head north through the woods to Ditchling Beacon, then along the South Downs Way and back through Stanmer Woods and village to Upper Lodges.
No styles, all gates.
We cross Ditchling Road twice.
Three steepish ascents (gravel, chalk, tarmac), one steepish decent (grass).
Chalk could be slippy if wet.
Poles advisable.
