The walk crosses over the A27, and follows the South Downs Way, climbing gently up to Kingston Ridge. With wonderful views over the South Downs and Sussex Weald, we continue round past Swanborough Hill and branch off following the path down into the valley and then up towards Balsdean Reservoir. The walk then makes its way down into Rottingdean where there is a good choice of eateries and buses.
The walk starts at Housedean Farm. Please get bus towards Lewes from Brighton. If you alight at Falmer, it’s a rather long walk to Housedean!
Despite two fairly gentle climbs up onto the Downs, much of the walk follows high paths on the crests of downland, with wonderful views both inland to Sussex and out to the sea. OS map 122
