Overview

We will walk east along West Meon Road towards Westbury House, then south towards Chappetts Farm and into Hen Wood.  Intersecting Halnaker Lane and walking south to join the South Downs Way to Hall Cottages, Whitewool Farm and the climb up towards Old Winchester Hill.  We traverse along the crest of Old Winchester Hill where we will have lunch.  After lunch we will continue on the South Downs Way to join the disused railway line to turn north back towards West Meon.

Some of the paths can be very muddy so please bring poles if you use them.  Also the weather does not look perfect and a lot of the route is exposed so warm clothes and wet weather gear is recommended.

There are two stiles and some moderate gradients.

This is a picnic walk so please bring lunch, snacks and drinks

From A32 turn SSE into Station Road. Parking is approximately 200m on the right hand side where the station used to be
