Important Note: Pre-booking required by latest 7pm the night before. If you want lunch in the pub, contact the walk leaders several days prior.
Starting from Watlington Hill we descend alongside the White Mark, an interesting feature carved into the chalk, to the Oxfordshire plain. Then we follow Swan’s Way (aka the Ridgeway) and progress into the Chiltern Way with fine views along the route. At the furthest extent of the path we reach the village of Ewelme for lunch - either in the grounds of the pretty St Mary the Virgin church, the local stores and coffee shop by the village pond, or a nearby pub - the Shepherds Hut. After lunch the return is on some, but not all, of the outward route, finally ascending Watlington Hill by a less steep path to the car park.
There are some steep ascents and descents on this walk. There will be an al fresco water / coffee break en route in the morning.
