Our first walk after the clocks fall back, sees us head to Teston Bridge Country Park for a lovely riverside stretch of the legs in the Medway Valley of around 10 miles.
There is much of interest along this pleasant circuit, with a variety of boating activities and wildlife on the River Medway. The route along riverside paths, tracks and fields is generally a good underfoot, however if significant rain has proceeded the walk, some stretches could be muddy.
We leave the the Country Park to follow the riverside path, before doing a short loop that takes us beside Nettlestead Place, a medieval manor house, to then enter the churchyard of the lovely 15th century Nettlestead church. We cross Bow Bridge as our route, now on the Medway Valley Walk curves right, up a gentle gradient as we head towards Tutsham Hall.
Next up, we make steady progress to West Farleigh and onto Farleigh Green and continue through to East Farleigh, before dropping back down to the River Medway. All that remains is to return to the riverside path and back to Teston Bridge, passing Kettle Bridge, which is the only wooden bridge on the Medway, followed by Teston Lock in the latter stages.
As ever the usual picnic lunch break, so don't forget your lunchbox, plus choice of pubs en route for obligatory liquid refreshment stop.
