Overview

Starting from the Tenterden, which is known as the "Jewel of the Weald", this walk is one of about 11.5 miles, through the wonderful tranquil countryside, that surrounds the town.

Heading south, we head out on the High Weald Landscape Trail (HWLT) passing close to Hope's Grove Farm, and on through Tilder Gill. Turning left in the trees, we leave the HWLT, to proceed to Forstal Farm, then briefly along the B2080, then there is more woodland, as the circuit cuts through Knock Wood.

Mostly open countryside leads the way to Tiffenden and onward to High Halden, which is the planned short picnic stop, followed by a visit to the Chequers on the Green pub for drinks.

The return leg takes us to St Michaels, later turning south beside Silcocks Farm for the journey back to Tenterden. Some may wish to drop in for a post walk drink at the Old Dairy, as we pass beside the Kent & East Sussex Railway towards the finish. There are of course, many other places for refreshment in Tenterden, but we like the Old Dairy!

Dogs welcome, but on a short lead when required.
