Overview

This is a delightful winter walk, with starkly beautiful moorland, sandhills and lakes. There are sweeping views, no stiles, no steep ascents and only one short steep descent. There is hardly any road walking and very few buildings.

We start from Stockbridge car park off the Tilford-Rushmoor road just south of Tilford, which is free and has plenty of space. Most of the walk is on sandy soil, there are a few patches of mud, but we should be able to avoid most of them. Some may find walking poles useful for the  short, steep descent. Please bring a picnic lunch and any other refreshments, although, provided we make good time, we should be able to make our lunch stop at the café at Frensham Great Pond. There are public loos at both Great and Little Pond. Part of the walk is across MoD land on Hankley Common; we have clearance from the MoD for this walk (There is minimal  training forecast) and I will be wearing a hi-viz jacked as requested.
