Medium walk “ Moderate / Easy - 9 miles - Bring packed lunch
Start at Timbersbrook car park and set off at 10:00am to climb Bosley Cloud, down the other side to see the wallabys roaming free (yes this is England) continue along the Gritstone Trail/Staffordshire Way, towards Rushton Spencer. Lunch at St Lawrence church, after which we will head for Oulton and Woodhouse Green before returning for about 9 miles, thats using the string on a map technique. Well it works for me.
We will pass and have a look at a Cold War nuclear bunker, one used by the Observer Corp as a monitoring post for the more famous Hack Green centre near Nantwich.
Oh wait, I was going to tell you about a young man, a teenager as a matter of fact, who was offered some sort of, well, a job. In Stone, would you believe. Happy as a lark he was when he set off, but somehow ended up back here and in a grave that was deliberately dug the wrong way round.
Near the end we will pass/visit the Bridestones, Congletons neolithic monument, 5,000 years old and at one time occupied an area larger than Stonehenge, now a shadow of its former self.
If your groups walk is fully booked come and join us, dont forget to bring a flask and packed lunch, we stop once for a drink and once more for lunch, and set off at 10:00 a.m. with whoever has turned up - so do not be late. Any queries contact Paul on 07568712197. Lets go guys.
