The walk begins in Tintern, where we cross the well-known Wireworks bridge. This bridge hols historical significance, as it was once supported a tramway that transported materials from the local ironworks located along the Angidy Valley. From the bridge, our route leads us along the picturesque River Wye, continuing until we we reach Brockweir. At this point, we ascend to join the Offa's Dyke Path trail that we follow back in the direction of Tintern. Along the way, we pass the Devil's Pulpit, a striking limestone rock that protrudes from the cliff high above the River Wye. The viewpoint offers spectacular views, including a view over Tintern Abbey. The Abbey stands as a national icon, maintaining its roofless yet magnificent presence on the river bank, nearly five centuries after its dramatic decline.
The terrain encountered on this walk is varied, comprising of tarmac, open fields, woodland tracks, steps and several sections featuring ascents and descents.
