Overview

From the Quarrymen's Arms in Trefil (previously known as the Top House), we follow the path up to the "Blue Lagoon".

From the lagoon, we then retrace our steps for a while, through the former limestone quarry until we turn off and climb up to "Chartist Cave".

From the cave, we head back down to our original path and back to the start.

Roughly the first two thirds of the walk takes place on easy to follow, stoney path. The last third (where we head up to the cave) takes us onto open common. There is a small amount of climbing involved when heading to the lagoon and the cave, but nothing too strenuous.

With it's dramatic landscape, Trefil Quarry is a popular filming location and has featured in various films and TV series including Merlin, Dr Who, Clash of the Titans and His Dark Materials.

Parking is limited so car sharing is recommended where possible.
