WW1 Trefonen Centenary walk - extended version
Background information:
The WW1 Centenary Walks link the former homes of the fallen who are remembered on Trefonen war memorial. Homes have large blue plaques on or close by, with details of the person commemorated.
The walk also passes by Woodhill Park Estate, on the return section of the walk. The house was originally the home to the Danville Lees family, local benefactors, and especially Charles who went down with his destroyer off Finland, victim of a German mine.
The route predominantly follows lanes and field paths , with some inclines but generally very manageable. The paths may be muddy and wet , so walking boots with a good grip together with walking poles are recommended.
There will be a number of stiles along the route.
One section of the original walk has been excluded to avoid a difficult and dangerous slope. The replacement section now included heads over to Llanforda Wood then Pen-y-llan Mill and finally to the Woodall Park estate before returning to the starting point.
Zone A
David H will also be leading this walk and will meet at Gatacre car park in Oswestry for car sharing.
Toilet stops will be included along the route.
