The walk starts from the car park at Ty Mawr Country Park, Cefn-mawr, Wrexham. Parking costs £1 per day. There is an overflow car park if the main one is full and toilet facilities are available.
The walk starts with magnificent views of the Newbridge railway viaduct and then picks up a pleasant riverside path, along which we will have our coffee break. We proceed to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a world heritage site and pick up a canal side path, heading towards Garth Trevor. A disused railway track brings us back to the canal where we will have lunch. We then make our way back to Ty Mawr Country Park via an inland path where ice creams and other refreshments are available. There are one or two areas of rough ground and steep up and downhill sections, but nothing too onerous. Beautiful countryside. Livestock possible in one or two places but none there when recced. Please bring your own refreshments for the coffee and lunch stops.
