In an area steeped in history, this circular walk starts at the Horseshoes Pub overflow CP and proceeds towards Uppington village before following grassland tracks and a lane to the summit of Charlton Hill. On route, you will encounter spectacular far reaching views towards Wenlock Edge, the Long Mynd and the Church Stretton Hills. After a short coffee break including sumptuous mince pies provided by Helen, the walk will descend through a nature reserve before returning to the Horseshoes Pub for refreshments.
This walk follows mostly cross country grassland tracks with the exception of a short (10 - 15 min) ascent on a lane to the top of Charlton Hill. Distance 6 miles; Total ascent approx. 100 metres.
This is not a S&S walk however meals can be purchased on the day at the Horseshoes Pub. For those not joining in a meal, purchase of a coffee or similar would be appreciated by the Landlord to cover parking arrangements.
Hazards: Several stiles (can be greasy), gates, tree stumps and muddy in places consistent with the time of year. Boots/strong footware advised. Where long grass is encountered, use of gaiters may prove beneficial.
Dogs allowed but must be kept on a lead due to sheep but also nesting birds in the nature reserve area.
