Leaving the quiet village of Underriver we walk through farmland and woodland towards Shipbourne, passing Underriver Farm, the Fairhill estate, Twelve Acre Plantation and Peacock Wood. After a short break at St. Giles Churchyard, we return via Cold Blows Wood, Budd’s Green and Underriver House.
There is one long, steady ascent and three short sections of road walking. Be prepared for up to 16 stiles, depending on which farm gates are open. Some stiles are high and some are in poor condition. The lovely quiet surroundings of the walk and excellent views, make the stiles worth climbing!
The walk is dog-friendly but is only suitable for small dogs, due to the many stiles.
Updated on 19 May: Mud warning..... despite trying to time this walk for 'after the mud', there are still several wet muddy sections, including one long stretch through Cold Blows Wood.
New walkers are welcome to try up to three ‘taster’ walks with us, to help you decide if you’d like to join The Ramblers. There’s no booking required but, if you’re new to our walks, please contact the walk leader beforehand to check that this walk will suit you (see contact panel above).
Bring light refreshments for the 'nibble break' part-way through the walk.
Refreshments after the walk at The White Rock Inn, Underriver (www.thewhiterockinn.co.uk). If you would like lunch, please book in advance (01732 833 112) and ask to be seated with Tonbridge and Malling Ramblers.
