A leisurely and serenely horizontal circular walk from Uxbridge north-westward to picturesque Denham Village, straddling 5 of the interconnected watercourses of the Colne Valley: Frayn’s River, the Shire Ditch, the Grand Union Canal, the River Colne, and, as we approach Denham, the renowned Misbourne chalk stream. Our picnic lunch will be on Denham Village Green; for drinks only, we have a choice of 3 pubs: the Swan, the Green Man, and the Falcon. After lunch we go eastward through the manicured greens of the Buckinghamshire Golf Club and then turn southward back to Uxbridge along the Grand Union Canal.
MEET: 11.00 am Uxbridge Station. (Richmond District Line 9.36 Hammersmith Piccadilly Line 10.06 Uxbridge10.54. Piccadilly Line trains DO NOT STOP at Turnham Green outside the rush hour. It may be necessary to change onto the Metropolitan Line at Rayners Lane. Uxbridge is within the Freedom Pass Zone. For those coming from other parts of London, there are frequent trains to Uxbridge on the Metropolitan from Baker Street).
