Overview

The walk starts from West Hendred, traversing low-lying farmland to Woods Farm and then to the tunnel beneath the main London to Bristol railway line at Ardington Wick. We will pass over the newly replaced footbridge and on to Ardington Lock, one of the best-preserved locks on the disused Wilts and Berks canal in the Wantage area, which few people ever see. From there, we move west and south to the outskirts of Grove before turning east, crossing fields to Ardington, passing the Millennial Stones to the tranquil Parkinson's Garden for our picnic lunch stop. Finally, we return to the start via the imposing Ardington House. Vale walk leader PR 07418 078044
