Overview

We will walk along part of the Hertfordshire Way to Clothall Bury, and then on to Hooks Green. Hooks Green is now just a few houses, but in the 14th Century it was a leper colony with its own chapel. We then walk on to Clothall Church via Hickmans Hill. The present church was built around 1350-70 and remains largely unchanged. Even the South Door is 14th century.

To return Wallington we climb Bird Hill, the only significant hill on the walk. On reaching the top of the hill we leave the Icknield Way to follow the far less used path to Wallington via Quickswood Farm and Spital Wood.
