Do join us for a relaxed walk on "higher" parts of the Forest in order to avoid the worst of the mud and water!
We meet at 1015hrs at the Ashley Walk car park, walking via Hampton Ridge and a circuitous southerly route around Frogham to the Foresters Arms for lunch. We take a different route for the afternoon return to the car park which we should reach by 1530hrs.
If the weather is kind to us there are pleasant views to both north and south from the ridge.
At this time of year it is impossible not to encounter some mud and puddles but we will avoid areas such as Long Bottom which on our pre-walk closely resembled a quagmire and the ford near Ogdens Farm which is currently situated somewhere in a recently formed lake!
Boots rather than walking shoes are recommended, the latter may result in rather damp socks!
