A leisurely walk from Cowcaddens Subway to Hillhead Subway via the Forth and Clyde Canal, Ruchill Park, North Kelvin Meadow and Children’s Wood and the Kelvin Walkway.
On a clear day there are great views over Glasgow from Ruchill Park flagpole.
The paths are mainly tarmac or gravel, though the North Kelvin Meadow can be a little muddy.
There are a number of steps - up to the canal at Spiers Wharf, up to Ruchill Park and down and up the Kelvin Walkway.
If you wish to come on the walk you must contact the Leader (Sandra) in advance by email or text but not more than two weeks in advance. Also please provide the Leader with a mobile phone number in case arrangements change.
There is a cafe at the Claypits end of the canal if anyone wishes to get a hot drink. It won’t be a stop but if you wish to walk with a hot drink or buy some tasty bakes, that’s your chance.
There are toilets at the Botanic Gardens, near the end of the walk.
There will be a snack stop in Ruchill Park. Lunch will be towards the end of the walk in the Botanic Gardens. Therefore there is an option to bring your own or to treat yourselves to lunch or coffee and a cake in one of the many hostelries, restaurants or coffee shops on Byres Road.
Walkers should not come on the walk if they have any symptoms associated with the Covid virus.
