The Whithorn Way is a pilgrims trail from Glasgow Cathedral to Whithorn Priory. In total it is a walk of 143 miles. It is split into 13 sections, of approximately 12 miles each.
The first section is the most urban one as it travels through Glasgow to Paisley.
Starting at Glasgow Cathedral, the walk heads down to the Clyde, and follows it to Govan. The next section is urban and industrial heading to Braehead where it rejoins the Clyde. The third section goes around the golf course and leaves the Clyde to head up the White Cart. The final section is again urban as the walk passes Glasgow Airport and into Paisley.
If you wish to come on the walk you must contact the Leader (Sandra) in advance by email or text but not more than two weeks in advance, which is from Thursday 31st July. Also please provide the Leader with a mobile phone number in case arrangements change.
If you’ve not had a response within a couple of days please check your junk mail.
Walkers should not come on the walk if they have any symptoms associated with the Covid virus.
Walkers should carry an "in case of emergency" card with contact details.
The walk is on tarmac paths. It will be at a relatively brisk pace to complete the walk at a reasonable time in the afternoon. For those wanting to do a shorter walk it is possible to stop at Govan (around 4 miles) or Braehead (around 7 miles).
There will be a few refreshment stops, snacks at The Riverside Museum, lunch just beyond Braehead and a final snack stop near the airport.
There are toilets at the Riverside Museum and Braehead.
