Overview

Leaving Waterhall Car Park we will climb up alongside the old Waterhall Golf Course before walking across some fields to cross The Dyke Golf Course to meet up with the South Downs Way through Saddlescombe where we will stop for a coffee break. Then up Newtimber Hill before returning along the ridge down to Waterhall.

Sturdy walking boots and walking poles are advised. There are two stiles on this route, one in poor repair. One slippery chalk descent that can be largely avoided by using the grass on either side. Care and attention will be required when cross the same fairly fast Saddlescombe Road twice, and when we cross the fairways of the Dyke Golf Course.
