A circular Walk starting from Wendover Station and heading along the edge of the Chilterns and the ancient Ridgeway. We will pass 16th Century mansion known as Chequers and then ascend Coombe Hill and its monument. There is one steep climb (260m/853 ft) but as this is a relatively short walk and we have plenty of time, we can do this at peoples' own pace. There is no planned pub stop on this walk so walkers should bring enough food and drink for the day.
Meet at Wendover Station, HP22 6EJ. Parking at the station is £6.10 for the day. It may be possible to park in surrounding streets and then walk to the station. The Chiltern Line to Aylesbury stops at Wendover and can be picked up from Chorleywood, Chalfont and Latimer and Amersham. This arrives after 10.00 so do let me know if this is what you plan to do so that we know to wait for you.
Participants on this walk need to have suitable footwear and equipment and be able to walk the distance and terrain so please consider this before booking. If you are unsure then please contact the walk leader before booking to ascertain whether this walk is suitable for you. Please remember to bring along your ICE (In Case of Emergency) card with details of emergency contacts, medical conditions and medications.
The leader has set a limit of 21 walkers and requires you to book. If your plans change please let the leader know in case there is a waiting list. Your details will be used solely for the purpose of the walk and will then be destroyed.
