Park in Cowleaze Field, Oxford Road (A40), West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. There is a Samaritan's cycle ride on that day and parking is free.
We walk to Downley and then back. Mainly climbing up through the woods for shade in summer, followed by beautiful views all the way down along the open space and fields. Please wear your muddy boots and a walking pole is useful on the return leg. Some road walking, no stiles.
Gradual climb on the way to Downey, some fitness is essential. Dogs are welcome.
Travelling from High Wycombe - through the High Street of West Wycombe, follow the A40 as it bears slightly left, ignoring the LH turning to the National Trust and the RH turning to the Hellfire Caves. After approx 200m, turn left into Cowleaze field where you will see signs to the Samaritans Cycle Sportive.When you arrive you’ll see there’s an event in the field. It’s a Samaritans Charity cycling event. They know you’re coming so just drive in and park where you’ll see lots of other cars. Meet at the entry gate for our walk.
