Overview

A lovely circular walk from the charming market town of Wetherby, located on the River Wharfe. This historic town is situated midway between London and Edinburgh on the Great North Road, making it a perfect starting point for our journey.

We begin by strolling through Wetherby’s town centre, heading towards the Harland Way, a disused railway line that will take us toward the village of Spofforth. After leaving the old railway behind at Stockeld Grange, we pass through the beautiful Stockeld Park before reaching our lunch stop in the peaceful village of Sicklinghall.

After a well-deserved break, we continue our walk across fields to the village of Linton, where, if the weather is clear, we can enjoy stunning views over lower Wharfedale. From there, we follow a scenic path along a quiet country lane back into Wetherby. On the way, we cross the local golf course and walk around the River Wharfe floodplain. Once back there are plenty of pubs and cafe to choose from for a post-walk drink.

This walk offers a mix of well-maintained paths, quiet country lanes, and farmland. Depending on the weather, some sections may be muddy, so waterproof boots are recommended.
