Overview

Meeting in the Wilderness car park at the bandstand, we walk up towards Morrisons on Hallfield Lane and along past St James Church, through the houses - well, not quite through them - and round the corner onto the National Cycleway Route 665 for a couple of miles.  Taking a right turn off the cycleway onto Church Causeway for around quarter of a mile we go through a wooden gate opposite All Saints Church and through the fields towards the pretty Thorp Arch Village.  Once through the fields we are on the road again (Wood Lane).  Care is needed along this half mile stretch as there are no sidewalks - only a grassy bank either side that can be a bit lumpy to walk on - or muddy if we get some much needed rain!  We then turn onto Flint Mill Lane (Ebor Way/Wetherby) and keep on this track to Heuthwaite Lane towards the A1(M). Once at this point we take left down towards the River Wharfe and then a right to follow the river bank for half mile towards Wetherby and car park.
