Overview

A beautiful walk to an iconic Fell in the upper Eden valley. We start from the base of the Lady Anne Clifford's High Way and walk up to High Dolphinsty before turning south to ascend to The Nab and across the felltop to the trig point of Wild Boar Fell. After crossing a boggy section on the plateau-like top we arrive at the cairns which overlook the Mallerstang valley like sentinels guarding the crest. We then descend The Band and climb to Swarth Fell, with wonderful views all the way. Next we descend steeply on a mainly grassy path to reach Aisgill Moor Cottages, closely followed by Hell Gill Force, before making our final short climb to Hell Gill bridge, and return via the High Way, past the 'Water Cut' Eden Benchmark
