Expected heat and very little shade. An alternative in woodland would not be sufficient to justify the distance to travel for our group
We are the Waltham Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
From the car park we head north along lanes and across fields to Crockham Heath. Then it's climbing along the lane to Enborne followed by a downhill to cross Benham Bridge. We then follow the tow path WNW along the Kennet and Avon canal past Bentham Lock to Hamstead Lock. From there we turn back across the canal and River Kennet to head roughly SSW through Hamstead Park back towards Crockham Heath. Crossing fields we then have more lanes before entering The Chase to return to the car park. Picnic lunch.
