Overview

A walk around the village of Brithdir visiting the 343 metre summit of Y Foel and berithdir Common, returning via the Torrent Walk. We use a combination of quiet lanes, tracks and public footpaths, with a permissive path to the top of Y Foel. Although modest in height, this isolated hill offers wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and the nearby ridges of Cadair Idris. Our route then takes us on a quiet lane, through fields and woodland, and over the Common. A final ascent takes us alongside the rushing Afon Clywedog (the Torrent), whose rapids and falls are clearly visible through the trees and this time of year.

Expect to encounter some wet and boggy ground, and a stream which needs to be crossed. Waterproof boots are essential and gaiters strongly recommended!
