We are the York Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Where we will walk
Mainly tracks, field paths and lanes, with some forest paths.
We start walking SE the length of the village, then turn generally north north east towards the tiny village of Thorpe Bassett, ascending to 199m at Settrington Beacon. Much of this part of the route is along the Yorkshire Wolds Way. After turning west for a short distance and walking through Thorpe Bassett, we return to Settrington via Bassett Brow. There are a couple of sharp climbs on the way, and at one point the footpath has been made difficult in order to favour the local shoot.
Assistance dogs only - sheep in fields and possibly lambs
Start place: Village Hall Car Park. There is a £2 charge for each car which will be collected by the Walk Leader.
