This is a varied 8.5 mile walk with lovely views across the Hamble, starting from Bursledon Station free car park, SO31 8AA, SU490096.
Heading South West from J8 of the M27 on to the A27 towards Swanwick and Park Gate, turn right into Station Road just before the railway bridge to reach the car park.
We walk to the Victoria Country Park through fields and footpaths with some road walking , then along Southampton Water to Hamble for our picnic lunch. We will then take the ferry across the river and walk back along the shore to Bursledon. If the ferry is too busy for us to wait - it's Easter Sunday! - we will go back by a very pleasant and slightly shorter route across fields and through woods.
There are no hills, but several gentle ups and downs and very uneven surfaces on many of the paths. There is bound to be some mud in the woods and the possibility of puddles along the shore.
The coffee stop will be in the Country Park where toilets are available. There are also toilets by the water in Hamble where we have lunch. Please bring a picnic lunch with you.
The charge for the ferry is £2.50, cash only.
Please remember that not only is it Easter Sunday but the clocks will go forward the night before.
