Bradford (Saltaire) Beer Festival

I and several other TAH members have been to this beer festival in previous years with 110 cask ales, Craft Keg beers and ciders, perries and selected wines available as well as hot and cold food provided by Binns of Saltaire (excellent pies) and live music provided by the Hall Royd Brass Band. The venue is the attractive Victoria Hall in Saltaire, just a couple of minutes’ walk up from the railway station. I am likely to be catching the 11.26 train from Leeds, to arrive in Saltaire at 11.40 (the 11.19 from Kirkstall Forge will also get you there at this time), to try and get in before a large queue has formed.

Entrance tickets cost £7.00 for the afternoon session (11.30am-4.00pm) – entry is guaranteed before 1.30pm and the price includes a commemorative glass and programme. Beer is purchased by tokens which are on sale at the festival (not surprisingly); any unused tokens can be sold back. CAMRA members can be reimbursed the full cost of their entry in beer tokens upon production of a valid membership card.

In previous years we have had a good few hours at the festival, then wandered around some of the local bars such as The Cap & Collar (depending on how many of us there are), The SALT Beer Factory and Fanny’s Ale House, before walking towards Shipley for a decent curry.

Those wishing to attend are strongly advised to pre-purchase a ticket as there is a limit to the number of people allowed in for each session – fire regulations apply and determine this limit. Just search ‘CAMRA Bradford Beer and Cider Festival 2026’ – you should get to the ‘tckty.camra.org.uk’ site, select the Saturday 28th afternoon session and purchase a ticket – which I found to be an easy process. Hard copy tickets are also on sale at various pubs in the Bradford area – full details on the website referred to above. A limited number of ‘on-the-door’ tickets are available, but you need to be an early bird to get in (suggest the 10.56 train from Leeds to arrive Saltaire 11.10) – or patiently wait in the queue!
