A varied and interesting walk taking in fields, farmland, woods, quarries, moorland and riverside paths by the river Irwell. We use the Pennine Bridleway and the Rossendale Way along part of our route and many paths through farmland covered with sheep, lambs and cattle. There are views of Cowpe Reservoir and Gorpley Reservoir and a lovely walk along Gorpley clough as we near Todmorden. There are a number of stiles and some road crossings requiring care. The highest point is 431m but there are a lot of undulations on this route. A good level of fitness is required. Boots are advised for this walk. Bring a packed lunch and drinks.
