Overview

A local walk taking us through Otterbourne woods, River Itchen to Shawford , Compton, Silkstead and returning to Otterbourne via Compton Street. Easy walking with lovely paths/trails. Some of you may be familiar with many of the paths, but there are one or two paths you may not be aware of. Worth trying!

There is a steep climb between Shawford and Compton. The coffee stop is on Shawford Down. However, if you like, we can stop at Platform One, Shawford where you can buy coffee/tea and a cake for you to consume!

It may be muddy along the River Itchen so poles are advisable if you use them.

As ever, this is a picnic walk, so please bring your own lunch to eat at the appropriate time

We will assemble close to the Village Hall in Cranbourne Drive, Otterbourne. There is plenty of parking in front of the village hall, but if the car park is full, you may park along Cranbourne Drive. Otterborne lies just between Winchester and Chandlers Ford and I suspect most of you know where to come. In the event that you do not know the meeting point, please let me know.
