The walk starts from Arrochar-Tarbet train station where we get the train to Garelochead to begin walking .
A short cycle path then some rough but straitforward ground to reach Yankee/military road. A good tarmac section before we go onto rough ground which could be slightly boggy before reaching a forestry road to Glen Douglas. The final section is on a rough hardpacked surface with uneven walking at times.
Although mainly on good surfaces there is a lot of undulating walking with several short sharp climbs. The total ascent is over 600m with a walking distance of circa 12 miles taking 5hours 30min of walking time. There are good views throughout in particular the final section overlooking the Arrochar Alps.
Gaiters and poles advisable and if ice predicted microspikes could help.
