Overview

Travel to Buchanan Bus Station by X76 (9.05 am from Kilmarnock Bus Station) or X77 (8.40 am from Ayr Bus Station) and meet at the Running Man Clock outside the bus station at 10 am.  Walk to Queen Street station and catch the 10.38 train to Milngavie.  The walk will begin at Milngavie Train Station at 11 am.  We will follow the Allander Walkway out of Milngavie and continue on the walkway beside the river until we reach the River Kelvin.  We will then follow the Kelvin Walkway into Glasgow to arrive at Maryhill Park and continue on to Maryhill Road.  At this point, after approximately 7 miles, there is the option of catching a train from Maryhill station (2.32 pm or 3.30 pm) back to Queen Street.  To complete the walk we carry on along Maryhill Road to the Maryhill Locks and follow the canal to Spiers Wharf and back to the bus station.  The total distance is approximately 10 miles.  The walk surfaces are good on the walkways and the main challenge is the distance.  The walk should be completed by 4 pm. Please contact the walk leaders (jgilmour479@gmail.com or 07785234070) if you plan to travel direct to Milngavie.
