This is a ‘figure of eight’ both legs starting and finishing at Alkham Village Hall.
Starting at 9.30, a 7.5m circular from the village hall up the North side of the valley with views of Temple Ewell and Lydden and returning via Chalksole Green airstrip to the village hall for lunch where there is a pub, church and seating. Expect to arrive around 12.30pm.
Second half - Leaving around 1.15pm the second circular is circa six miles via Swingfield Street and back to the start. Anyone wishing to join the walk at this stage is of course welcome.
As the total distance is about 13.5 miles, I expect the pace to be brisk in order to finish at around 3.45pm.
It is a hilly route (1600 ft total ascent) but the good news is, ‘what goes up must come down’.
No loos on route, but pub or picnic lunch.
