Overview

Hythe – Walk timed to return before our Annual Lunch at The Red Lion. Please note start time is later than usual.

Meet in Portland Road, Hythe car park Portland Road, Hythe Green behind the former Duke’s Head pub. (Pay and display car park or pay by App. There is a height restriction). Alternatively, park free nearby along A259 Dymchurch Road/Military Road on either side of the Military Canal. The starting point is also near to the Red Lion Square bus stops, with services from Ashford, Folkestone, Lydd, and New Romney,.

This walk starts at sea level before climbing the slopes behind the Town to Sene Valley Golf Course, Sene Wood and Dibgate Camp so there are some hills, but we’ll maintain a leisurely pace. After crossing Horn Street we’ll pass Shorncliffe Military Cemetery then descend via Sandy Lane to Seabrook and return to Hythe along the Military Canal Path – or, if the weather is suitable, along the seafront. There may be a short refreshment stop if the tea cabin at Sene Golf Course is open.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome but there may be some stiles which may not be dog-friendly and there is likely to be livestock along the route.

Estimated return time is around 14:00.
