Overview

Elham

This walk starts from The Square, Elham by the entrance to St Mary’s Church.

There is some free car parking in The Square – alternatively, park considerately on nearby roads.

Elham is served by the number 17 bus from Canterbury and Folkestone and the start point is close to the Rose and Crown bus stop in the village.

Our route leaves the village and climbs out of the Valley to Park Gate. We’ll then make our way via Bladbean and part of Covert Wood to Redoak and descend to cross the Valley road at Breach. We’ll follow a gently sloping path on the opposite side of the Valley and walk via Wingate and Oxroad Farms to Hall Downs with great views over the Valley before dropping down to North Elham and returning along the Elham Valley Way.

There will be some stiles and there will be livestock along the route. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, but the stiles may not be dog-friendly, so you may need to lift your dog over some.

Expected return to Elham is around 14.30.

Bring a packed lunch and drinks.  There are public toilets and refreshment opportunities in Elham.
