A beautiful walk through woodland, secluded valleys and lush countryside. The first half of the walk follows Hangers Way from Alton to Selbourne where we stop for lunch. Selbourne has public toilets, a pub, a village shop, a tearoom and is home to the Gilbert White Museum. After lunch we climb Gilbert White’s Zig-Zag path up Selborne Hill and across the common. We then pass through the pretty villages of Upper Farringdon and Chawton, where Jane Austin lived while writing Mansfield Park, Emma and Persuasion. The walk is mainly flat with a couple of short uphill stretches.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors, such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
