Ther is a limit of 20 people for this walk and it's essential to book. Please use the email link after Saturday 19 April to book your place.
Up and over the South Downs, enjoying great countryside scenery, castle views and riverside. There are two long climbs in the morning. Lunch is at The George, Burpham (see weblink below) and there are benches nearby for those with picnics. If you want a pub lunch please email by close on Tuesday 13 May at the latest.
After lunch we have a slightly longer walk with one short climb. We follow the River Arun to South Stoke, then turn towards Arundel, where there are toilets and a possibility of tea, beer or ice cream. Return trains are usually two an hour.
Catch the 09.05 train from Victoria, arriving at Amberley at 10.28. Buy a day return to Arundel.
Walking boots are essential and poles would be useful for rough footpaths and possible mud. The walk includes sections along lanes without pavements, river banks and ditches. We cross a railway line and some busier roads. Extra care is needed, especially in the afternoon, and walkers must tell the leader if they want to leave the route for any reason.
There are no toilets at Amberley Station and there are no drop-out points.
