A circular walk starting at St. Michaels Church, Llanvihangel Crucorney, where there is ample roadside parking. We then head north and pick up Offa's Dyke Path and head east through farmland (this may be muddy and possibly with cows). After joining the Beacons Way, we ascend Skirrid (Ysgyryd Fawr - 486 metres high and known locally as "The Holy Mountain") and the most eastern section of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The excellent views are of course weather dependent. Following a walk along the entire ridge we then descend through woodland and follow the path through the glacial landslip on the north-west side of the ridge, known as Jack O'Kent's Footprint. We then return to the start after passing Llanvihangel Court, a fine Tudor country house. The walk ends near to the historic (and some say haunted) Skirrid Mountain Inn, where refreshments are available.
Please bring a packed lunch.
No dogs please.
Car sharing is available from Wilton Road Car Park, Ross on Wye leaving at 8.40am.
