We meet under the Market House in Ledbury and wend our way through the Conigree Woods to Eastnor Deer Park. We climb up to the Obelisk, passing the newly acquired section of the Berlin Wall en route. If our stamina and the weather allow, we will take a coffee break at this high point and enjoy spectacular views. Sufficiently restored, we then head off through woodland paths, to join part of the Malvern Hills, and towards British Camp, where we might stop for an early lunch. Our return is via Colwall Green and St James' Church (where we could take a short afternoon break) and up Oyster Hill. We then descend and make our way back to Ledbury through Frith Wood.
The walk covers a variety of terrain - woodland, fields, orchards, rocky hill tracks, a small section of road and a village green. It is described as 'strenuous', not because the terrain is especially challenging, but simply by virtue of its length and a few climbs. There are about a dozen stiles.
There are several car parks in Ledbury and, for those prepared to park a little further away, a fair bit of free street parking. Car sharing is encouraged.
There are toilet facilities in Church Lane, Ledbury; at the Woodshed, Eastnor; and at British Camp.
Sorry - the walk is not suitable for dogs.
Please bring a packed lunch, something to drink and perhaps snacks for morning and/or afternoon.
