We will start the walk with a gradual climb to the Devil’s Pulpit viewpoint, a rocky limestone outcrop on the other side of the Wye Valley, which offers spectacular views of Tintern village along the River Wye, and Tintern Abbey. Legend has it that the devil preached to the monks below, tempting them to desert their order. We then follow the Offa's Dyke Path to Brockweir and back to the car for those leaving.
The afternoon walk follows the delightful Angidy River and Angidy Valley, exploring its industrial heritage as a wireworks capital, including the historic site of Abbey Tintern Furnace. We return through a stunning woodland filled in the Spring with wild garlic and possibly early bluebells.
The morning walk is about 5.2 miles and the afternoon about 4 miles. Please bring a mid morning snack and a packed lunch, if required. Food and toilets are available in nearby cafes.
