This village in the centre of the Peak District is well situated for walking into the grounds of Chatsworth House, whilst longer walks could take you along the river, or up onto the moors. Wherever you go today there are plenty of refreshments to be had back in Baslow. This weekend is Children in Need Walks so you are welcome to join us at Baslow. We will be parking the coach at the Nether End Coach/Car Park, (DE45 1SR), and would expect to be there around 10.45 - 11.00am. With all walks finished by 5.00pm.
There will be three walks available, with detals circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Dave Trembath - 10.5 miles with 1350ft of ascent. A circular walk taking in Baslow, Curbar and Froggett Edges. Then down to the Derwent Valley and returning to Baslow along the River Derwent.
B Walk Leader - Chris Grayson - 8-9 miles going north to Baslow Edge. On to the Eagle Stone and Wellington's Monument t0 reach the Robin Hood pub.Through the woods of Jack Flat, a steep climb, then going below the monument before returning to Baslow.
C Walk Leader - Derek Cook - Just under 7 miles with 507ft of gradual ascent. From the coach park at Baslow we head south towards Chatsworth House. Crossing over the bridge we continue walking along the riverbank to Calton Lees. Up the gradual climb up to Calton Houses. Then downhill to Edensor and back to Chatsworth House, and on to Baslow.
