This is almost a figure of eight walk, with the option to drop out after three miles. It begins with a gradual ascent to the top of Bench Tor, with stunning views of the Dart valley. A woodland path takes us down to Venford Brook, which we follow back to the reservoir, where we complete half a circuit (or a full circuit for those who want to return to the car park) before branching out over open moorland to Horns Cross and Combestone Tor. We then follow the leat back to the car park.
The walk will be at a leisurely pace, with one easy stile and no steep ascents. However, there is rough ground underfoot (no tussocks!) and quite a bit of bracken, so shorts are not recommended.
