This is an 11.5 mile walk starting from Biddenden, it is a well marked, with minimal ascent mainly through open countryside and pasture, that also passes through Sissinghurst Castle Garden Estate.
We set off from the Recreation Ground in a northerly direction to pass East Ongley and West Ongley Farms, heading towards Hareplain, Brissenden Farm & Bettenham Farm. The main highlight of our exploration in the Weald of Kent, see us pass-by the Vita Sackville West inspired gardens at Sissinghurst Castle. In 1967 the National Trust took ownership of the Estate, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, a hot drink & cake will go down nicely at this point, if it isn't too crowded!
We will stop for our picnic lunchbreak, upon reaching Frittenden church, before drinks at the strangely named Bell & Jorrock public house, which we last visited on a group walk May 2023.
Our return to Biddenden heads to Buckhurst & Ibornden Park to then re-trace our steps in the latter stages of the walk, just north of the village.
Dogs welcome, but on a short lead when required.
Walk leader is Tina Frenett.
